75 Years of Little Golden Books on Independent Bookstore Day

It's Independent Bookstore Day at Bank Street Book Store on Saturday, April 29! To celebrate this national literacy event author Leonard Marcus will join us at 11:00 a.m. to discuss the Golden Book legacy and what it has meant -- and continues to mean -- to children and children's books through the years. Whether you grew up with "Poky Little Puppy," "Tootle," "Scuffy the Tugboat," or "Shy Little Kitten," everyone has a special favorite. And everyone remembers their own collection of Golden Books, many of them passed along to next generations of children and grandchildren. To honor this golden legacy, meet Leonard and join our read-in featuring titles that have provided pleasure for 75 years and still make kids happy. Leonard will sign his book "Golden Legacy: How Golden Books Won Children's Hearts, Changed Publishing Forever, and Became an American Icon Along the Way," a definitive study of this publishing phenom.

Dream a Little Dream

Come dream with us! On Sunday, April 30 at 11:00 a.m., Bank Street Book Store has the pleasure of hosting author/illustrator Peter Reynolds for a reading of his latest book for children. This one is called "Happy Dreamer" and it inspires all ages with a positive message about daring to dream, making your mark, and finding yourself. Peter will read, sketch, sign, and greet everyone lucky enough to attend this wonderful weekend event. Bring the entire family to meet Peter, whose imaginative mind is always at work delivering words and pictures that keep kids thinking about who they are and how they make a difference.
