Duke and Django: "I Got Rhythm" -They've Got Music!

In June of 2014, The Duke Ellington Center for the Arts presented "Duke and Django" at Bank Street Bookstore, an exploration of the history and musical collaboration of two legendary figures of jazz, Duke Ellington and Django Reinhardt.

 

The program featuring jazz guitar reminiscences by musicians Marc Daines and Glenn Tosto. In this segment, Marc shares historical anecdotes about Duke and Django and their love for jazz adaptations of George Gershwin's, "I Got Rhythm." Marc and Glenn treat the audience to guitar duets based on the beloved standard, one with a melody by Duke, and one by Django.

Young Musicians Survival Guide Concert with Amy Nathan

Kids rock Mozart, Gossec, traditional folk tunes and jazz standards at Bank Street Bookstore on November 30, 2014.

Author Amy Nathan organized the recital, featuring musicians attending First through Seventh Grade at NYC music schools, to celebrate the release of The Music Parents Survival Guide, the companion book to her Young Musicians Survival Guide, already in its second edition.
