Women of Character, Courage, and Commitment

March is National Women's History Month, and at Bank Street Bookstore we are using the opportunity to highlight amazing authors and illustrators whose work we admire. One of them, Tovah Klein (pictured third from left in the photo below with staffers Andrea, Hannah, and Andy), paid a visit to the store this week to share her remarkable new book "How Toddlers Thrive: What Parents Can Do Today for Children Ages 2-5 to Plant the Seeds of Lifelong Success."

Tovah's book is a loving tribute to tots and their families as they learn about developmental stages, steps, and milestones together. Please stop by the store for a look at this insightful book by the director of the Barnard College Center for Toddler Development -- and pick up a signed copy for a woman you are proud to honor this month.

International Women's Day is Saturday, March 8, providing another opportunity to pay tribute to outstanding women. We are featuring books by and about women whose lives and endless accomplishments throughout history enrich our own lives. A few examples are shown below, including "When Marian Sang" by Pam Munoz Ryan and "The Bronte Sisters" by Catherine Reef.

It's Read Across America Week!

The largest reading event in the United States takes place March 3 through 7 as families and schools celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday week. How can you participate? It's easy! Simply sit down with your favorite young readers and enjoy a read-aloud or read-along. And there are so many classic Seussical titles to choose. Let us know your favorites on our Bank Street Bookstore Facebook page -- and happy reading here and there, happy reading everywhere.
