February Is the Perfect Time for "Malaika's Winter Carnival"

"When it snows, make a snowman" is the advice given by the main character in Nadia Hohn's book "Malaika's Winter Carnival." Meet the author and hear her present her book at Bank Street Bookstore on Friday, February 9 at 10:30 a.m. to help celebrate the bookstore's third anniversary at its current location at 2780 Broadway. Nadia will sign copies of her tale of a young girl who moves from a warm climate to a cold and unfamiliar place, but manages to survive -- and thrive. Copies of "Malaika's Costume," also by Nadia, are available as well.

Super Stephen Savage, Author/Illustrator of "Super Truck"

As Bank Street Bookstore eases into its third year at 2780 Broadway, who better than author/illustrator Stephen Savage to help celebrate New York City's premier independent bookstore for children? Stephen's books for kids include "Super Truck," "Mixed-Up Truck," "Little Tug," "Little Plane Learns to Write," and "Where's Walrus" -- each one a mini-masterpiece of how much fun reading can be. There's creativity, color, and comedy on each page. Laugh and learn when Stephen joins us Saturday, February 17 for story time at 10:30 a.m. Stephen will read, sign, and even treat kids to a drawing demo.
