Meet Author (and Neighbor!) Patty Lakin

Patty Lakin, one of our favorite authors (a favorite neighbor, too), visits Bank Street Book Store February 18 at 10:30 a.m. for Saturday story time. Patty has written many children's books that already fill our shelves, and now there are two titles to add: "Skateboards" and "Bicycles" among them.

These new titles are part of a series of books about everyday objects beautifully designed, crafted by hand, and of great interest to readers from eight to 12 years old. Patty will also talk about "Steve Jobs: Thinking Differently," a biography she wrote that is newly available in paperback. For the youngest listeners, Patty will share one of her delightful Max and Mo stories, making this event truly fun for all ages.

Toddlers Are Crazy about Leslie Patricelli and Her Books

Author Leslie Patricelli brings her good humor -- and her good books -- to Bank Street Book Store Thursday, February 16 for morning story time. Leslie's books, including "Quiet Loud," "Baby Happy Baby Sad," "No No Yes Yes," and "Nighty-Night," are favorites among the baby and toddler crowd so join us for a fun and lively reading at 10:30 a.m. Leslie is happy to sign books after the reading and pose for pictures with kids (and kids at heart).

Another Super Sunday

Football fans had it good last Sunday and now it's our turn! It's the Book Lover's Bowl at Bank Street Book Store! Visit the store Sunday, February 12 for two super book events.

At 10:30 a.m., meet author/illustrator David Cundy as he presents his book "Animals Spell Love." David will describe how the animals in his book use their movements, colors, and attributes to artistically spell the word LOVE on each page. He will also lead an art workshop to demonstrate his "wordpictures" technique. This event is for all ages and is an especially LOVE-ly way to acknowledge Valentine's Day.

At 3:30 .m., meet author Clara Hemphill, whose well-researched school reviews appear in her book "New York City's Best Public Pre-K and Elementary Schools." This newly published book has up-to-the-minute information families seek as they make choices regarding their children's education. Clara will answer questions about everything from libraries to lunches, teachers to technology, play roofs to principals.

Join us for these free (and fun!) events. No registration required.
