Window Shopping While Browsing for Books

We dare you to walk by the windows at Bank Street Book Store without finding perfect presents for kids on your wish lists: books! They are irresistibly appealing, available in every size and color, and never need to be returned because once they are opened, they are read again and again. This year's holidays are merrier if everyone has something good to read -- either under the tree, on a bedside table, or near a comfy chair. And always within reach.

"Good Morning, City" by NY1's Pat Kiernan

Wake up to great news! NY1's morning anchor Pat Kiernan has written a children's book for families across the city -- and around the world. "Good Morning, City," illustrated by Pascal Campion, is a delightful way to learn about how a bustling metropolis awakens each day -- from the busy baker to the ferry boat captain to the early news reporter (like Pat!). Pat reads and signs his book on Saturday, December 3 at 10:30 a.m. at Bank Street College, 610 West 112th Street. The event is sponsored by Bank Street Book Store and the New York Foundling, one of the city's oldest and largest children's charities.

High Flyer

Celebrate 100 years of aviation history by joining us at Bank Street Book Store on Sunday, November 20 at 2:00 p.m. as author Heather Lang and illustrator Raul Colon present their book "Fearless Flyer: Ruth Law and Her Flying Machine." The book and the event commemorate the occasion of pilot Ruth Law's record-breaking flight from Chicago to New York. Hear a wonderful true story, see how the book's pictures were re-created from archival photos, and meet two outstanding children's book creators -- all while having fun learning.
