On Saturday, August 19 at 10:30 a.m. at Bank Street Book Store, we will read great children's books aloud, as always, and then be joined by musician Marian Ayvaunn Fields. Marian wrote an original piece called "Zarephath: A Gospel and Jazz Infused Musical" based on a Bible story and the miracle of abundant food. See and hear part of the musical performed live during during story time and enjoy a great addition to our usual gathering of kids and families who love to read (and sing) together.
Fun and educational events for the whole family
Arthur, a one-eared fox-like creature -- a Wonderling -- stars in author Mira Bartok's debut novel for children "The Wonderling." This ode to those who are small but mighty is presented by the author at Bank Street Book Store on Sunday, October 8 at 2:00 p.m. The book is perfect for readers from ten to 14 years old and their families. Mira will read and sign during her appearance.
Say the number 42 and those within earshot immediately think of baseball great Jackie Robinson. Author Doreen Rappaport's new biography of this one-of-a-kind sports legend goes far beyond the 42 on his uniform to let readers know of Robinson's outstanding lifetime achievements. Doreen, a passionate Dodgers fan, talks about the research she conducted that led to "42 Is Not Just a Number," a portrait of a player for all time -- perfect for readers from eight to 12 years old. The event takes place Sunday, October 1 at 2:00 p.m. at Bank Street Book Store.
