Author/ Illustrator: Ruth Jeyaveeran
Format: Hardcover
Published: Houghton Mifflin, 2004

One night, Shoba's monkey, Fuzzy Patel, invites her to his cousin's wedding in Mumbai. They travel to India on their flying bed but land far from Mumbai.  (Perhaps Fuzzy's flying bed calculations were a bit off.) So they set off through the desert and into and out of cities and towns looking for Mumbai.  Along the way, they meet camels, elephants, and a snake charmer. They drink delicious coconut juice, ride on a crowded bus, and admire some colorful saris. Upon arriving at the wedding, Fuzzy and Shoba learn that many of monkey guests couldn't make it. Luckily they've made lots of new friends to invite to the wedding. "The air smelled of sweets and spices, and everyone ate laddoos, jelabees, and gulab jamun until the singing and dancing began." Colorful paintings and a satisfying story provide a lighthearted introduction to India.
