If you love ocean adventures and marine biology, you will love author Robert Burleigh's new book "Solving the Puzzle Under the Sea: Marie Tharp Maps the Ocean." And who wouldn't? The book tells the story of real-life scientist Marie Tharp, who was the first to successfully map the ocean floor. Marie grew up watching her father make maps, but even he had not considered such an ambitious undertaking as Marie's desire to chart the sea. With ideas that helped her meet the challenge, Marie became a true pioneer in several scientific fields of study. Hear all about Marie when Robert shares this new biography at Bank Street Book Store on Saturday, June 17 at 10:30 a.m. Other books by Robert will be featured at the event, including "Clalng! Clang! Beep! Beep! Listen to the City", including perfect for young listeners. Reservations are not required and the event is free of charge.
