Billy and his grandfather have a nightime ritual that helps ease Billy into a gentle sleep. They tell tales of ocean voyages while Billy's grandfather carves wooden ships that are completed before Billy wakes up the next morning. One day the ship is not yet finished, but by then, Billy understands that it is his job to compete his own stories and adventures. This is the tale of "Billy and the Secret Ship," to be featured at Bank Street Bookstore on Saturday, May 19 at 10:30 a.m. Author Mardee Kravit and illustrator Juliet Hitchner will read their story, then instruct kids in how to fold origami ships of their own. Join us at 2780 Broadway for a morning of creativy and smooth sailing.
