Join Us at Bank Street Book Store for Indies First

Event date:
Saturday, November 25, 2017 - 10:30am to 2:00pm

A wonderful annual tradition returns Saturday, November 25 when Indies First takes place at Bank Street Book Store with special books and guests throughout the day. This literacy event celebrates authors, illustrators, readers, and publishers by focusing attention on independent booksellers. The date coincides with Small Business Saturday, a retail shopping date supporting local neighborhood businesses starting November 25 and continuing throughout the entire holiday shopping season.

At 10:30 a.m. storyteller/musician Esther Crow kicks off the day with some lively tod rock for families with young children. At 11:00 a.m. author Dan Gutman ("My Weird School" books, "Flashback Four" books, and "Baseball Card Adventure" books) reads -- and perhaps raps -- some of his favorite bestselling titles. At 11:30 a.m. meet author Chris Grabenstein ("Mr. Lemoncello's Library" books and "Welcome to Wonderland" books) and hear him present some of his most popular (and hilarious) titles. At 1:00 p.m. author Renée Watson shares her most recent titles for older readers, including "Piecing Me Together," a highly lauded book for kids from 11 to 17 years old.
