"Alpha Is for Anthropos" by Therese Sellers

In "Alpha Is for Anthropos" young readers are treated to a beautifully illustrated book based on the 24 letters of the ancient Greek alphabet. Each letter is accompanied by an original nursery rhyme by author Therese Sellers, and each nursery rhyme has its own illustration by artist Lucy Bell Jarka-Sellers.

Therese will appear at Bank Street Bookstore on Saturday, June 28 to share and enlighten with poems like "Nu Is for Naus [Ship]," sung to the tune of "Three Blind Mice" and "Upsilon Is for Hypnos [Sleep]," a verse sung to the tune of a Brahms lullaby.

After teaching Greek to young students for over 17 years, author Therese Sellers began writing the book that eventually became "Alpha Is for Anthropos." The resulting book reinforces rhyming words and sounds as well as themes of Greek artwork and culture.

Join us at 2:30 p.m. for inspiration and insight into classical Greek sights, sounds, and traditions.
