Taleshare: Books for Kids in Foster Care
There's still time to donate books to at-risk kids in the foster care system. Visit the TaleShare Wishlist to donate.
Bank Street Bookstore welcomes all parents and children for a fun craft-filled afternoon of sharing and learning. Come support TaleShare in our initiative to strengthen community involvement in supporting our most vulnerable youth, children in the foster care system.
At the event books can be purchased for donation to children in the foster care system. Children will decorate a TaleShare Bag and share their artwork with the child receiving their donated book. For parents, there will be information on the foster care system and ways to support non-profits working to serve and protect these children. It is sure to be a great afternoon with books to donate, bags to decorate, stories to read, faces to paint, and other crafts to complete! All ages are welcome.
Barnard College seniors Sylvia Scodro and Victoria Albert will also share their insights about how the donation of books helps children in foster care learn and flourish.
PLUS, a percentage of the total purchase price will be donated by Bank Street Bookstore towards TaleShare in order to buy additional books.
TaleShare is a Social Action Project by Sylvia and Victoria, as part of Barnard’s Athena Scholars Program in Women's Leadership. The program is administered via CASA, the Court Appointed Special Advocate for children in foster care.
